Welcome to Sela

To embody peace

The Hebrew word Sela holds many meanings: an embodied form of prayer,

the body as a temple of the sacred, and the difficult transformation made possible in prayer.

"We are the rightful heirs of Christian symbolism, but somehow we have squared this heritage. We have let the house our fathers built fall into decay, and now we try to break into {various eastern religions}  palaces that our fathers never knew." -Carl Jung

About

About Sela

We provide seekers the ability to center themselves in the richness of a western spiritual life through embodied practices in the secular age.

Sela provides classes inspired by western spirituality throughout history. We make space for the seeker to choose a spiritual itinerary, grounded in embodied practice, that most reflects their search for meaning, healing and transcendence.

We aim to provide an environment for healing the body, soul and spirit through the exploration of physicality, interiority and spirituality.

The overall framework of Sela classes relies on inspiration from John of Ruusbroec’s “Realm of Lovers” while retrieving the philosophy of movement behind Saint Dominic’s “Nine Prayer Postures.”

Sela incorporates a unique class experience based on various saints, spiritual teachers, and mystics throughout history.
